Non-YMCAs Starting a New Youth In Government Chapter

Starting a Youth In Government program may appear as a daunting task.  Like most things, getting YIG off the ground is best handled one step at a time.  More information is available in our Leadership Guide.

It is important to know that all Youth In Government Chapters are required to be afilliated - recognized, supported, and administratively connected - with their local YMCA.

What's Next?

1.  Contact your local YMCA branch and find out if they are currently hosting a Youth In Government chapter.  Need helping finding your YMCA?  Click here.

2.  If you find that your local YMCA is not hosting a chapter, inform them that you are interested in starting one.  In the event that your YMCA is not familiar with the YIG program or can not be of assistance, please contact the State Office.
